Instructional Design and Distance Learning
EdTEch Tools
Instructional Design and Distance Learning supports a variety of educational technologies for instruction, effective communication, collaboration, and research.
- Interactive Whiteboards
An interactive whiteboard is a display, typically mounted on a classroom wall on campus, that allows interaction with a projected image though a pen, stylus, or fingertips. For training, open a ticket through the Request a Training from IDDL page and choose "Interactive Whiteboards" from the Training Selection drop-down menu.
- Microsoft Teams Meetings
Sunsetting Blackboard Collaborate Ultra: Due to Buffalo State's move away from the Blackboard platform, Collaborate is no longer available for use as of June 30, 2022. We recommend transitioning to Microsoft Teams Meetings, also supported by the college. The Microsoft (Office) 365 page and the Troubleshooting Microsoft Teams Meetings article provide more information.
- YuJa Video Media Service (Replacing Ensemble Video)
YuJa video replaces Ensemble video, as of August 12, 2022. Existing Ensemble Video content was exported to the new YuJa video platform as the first step in the transition process. Interim information on the new platform is available on YuJa’s Lecture Capture and Video Management support page or view their short informational videos on their YouTube channel. Media servers, such as YuJa, allow faculty to manage and publish their audio and video files into an LMS such as Blackboard and on other websites, with also allowing students to submit audio and video files to a dropbox for instructors to review or share with other students.
